Dear Friends,
The beginning of 2017 saw the official kick-off of Sphinx's 20th anniversary celebration. While we have been looking ahead to this milestone for months, even years, none of that anticipation captured quite how humbling, inspiring, electric, momentous – I could go on – it felt to ring in this occasion surrounded by hundreds of Sphinx family and friends, old and new.
Thank you does not feel sufficient to cover my gratitude for the Sphinx supporters, musicians, industry leaders, students, and diversity advocates who joined us at the inaugural SphinxConnect and the 20th annual Sphinx Competition. To our alumni: it is a privilege beyond words to witness the growth and amazing career trajectory of each of you. To our artistic partners and friends: it is an immense honor to stand beside you as we all continue to work for the positive change we wish to see in our field and our communities. Especially, to our patrons and sponsors who made these celebrations and these last 20 years possible: in the truest sense, we could not do what we do without you – the countless lives that have been transformed by Sphinx's programs are a testament to you, and we can never thank you enough.
