7 Spectacular Sights Along the Oregon Coast

If the pandemic has put your vacation plans on-hold, consider a road trip up or down the Oregonian coast. There is much to see and many photo moments along this incredible journey, including sights and attractions suited to all members of the family.
Check out these seven spectacular sights on your trip along the Oregon Coast:
1. Columbia River Gorge
A trip to or through Oregon is not complete without visiting the Columbia River Gorge; from hiking to boardsailing, there are plenty of activities offered here for the adventurous. Enjoy the views of snowcapped mountains as well as the downtown district, featuring restaurants, theaters, museums, galleries, and wineries, too.
2. Oregon Sand Dunes
The Oregon Sand Dunes are something to see; the vast dunes resemble a desert along the Pacific Ocean. These are located along Highway 101 and provide plenty of scenic spots for photos.
3. Sea Lion Caves
Oregon is known for its Sea Lion population so don't miss the Sea Lion Caves just north of Florence, located on renowned Highway 101. This system of caves opens into the Pacific and is a great place to view and photograph Sea Lions. Visit the gift shop while you are there!
4. Heceta Head Lighthouse
Do not miss visiting Heceta Head Light, approximately 13 miles north of Florence, Oregon. This lighthouse was built in 1894 and is over 50-feet tall. It is considered the most powerful light on the entire Oregonian coast, illuminating an impressive 21 nautical miles!
5. Thor's Well
Thor's Well is a well-known tourist attraction that features black rocks resembling a volcano. Wait to see the Well erupt, much like a geyser, which is most common during low tide. Enjoy taking a few pictures by the impressive waterfall and beach, too.
6. Astoria Riverwalk
Enjoy a stroll along the Astoria Riverwalk, as well as many more rigorous hiking trails located at this spot along the Columbia River. You will have views of the ocean, plenty of places to picnic, and dog-friendly spots for hiking, as well as a historic trolley for a ride.
7. Columbia River Maritime Museum
The Columbia River Maritime Museum is a great way to learn a little history while on your holiday. There are tours of a floating lighthouse and military artifacts to see that date generations. Enjoy programs and shows in the museum theater, located in Astoria.
