Sightseeing in Historical Paradise
At first glance, Paradise looks like a sleepy little area you might drive through on your way to another destination, but it would be unfortunate if you didn't stop and investigate the local sights. One thoughtful look around reveals that there is much to be gleaned from this woodsy town up on the ridge in Northern California's Sierra Foothills.
Drink in the History
If you're a history buff, you will especially enjoy the Gold Nugget Museum, which commemorates Paradise's mining town days. The charming museum features gold panning sluices, a working blacksmith shop and other displays that give you a sense of what life was like in the 19th century. Just down the street from this museum, another historical sight awaits you. The Paradise Train Depot Museum has been reconstructed, but it is a pretty fair replication of the original depot built in 1904. Its main attraction is a delightful operational model railroad.
Appreciate the Beauty
If spectacular views get your motor running, you'll find a visit to Paradise time well spent for the scenery alone. Many neighborhoods boast bold and beautiful aesthetics, such as the giant pine trees and resident deer. Make certain you visit Paradise Lake in nearby Magalia too. The lake and surrounding landscape are breathtaking; be sure to bring your camera so you can capture the images from every lovely angle. The historical displays, gorgeous greenery and enchanting wildlife prove that Paradise is aptly named. Poke around this town for just a little while, and you may decide to stay longer than you'd intended.
